Job summary

Tokio Marine Kiln Insurance Services Limited is recruiting an Underwriting Controls Manager to design, implement and maintain the underwriting controls framework. You will work closely with Underwriting, Risk and Compliance to ensure regulatory compliance and governance across the business.

The role involves policy maintenance, controls enhancement, onboarding support for underwriters, and producing KPI and exception reports for governance committees.

Qualifications

• Lloyd's or London Market experience in underwriting controls, underwriting operations, risk, compliance or similar.
• Knowledge of Lloyd's Oversight Principles and regulatory requirements is essential.
• ACII qualification or progress toward it is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain TMK's underwriting controls framework and strengthen existing processes.
• Embed underwriting controls and best practice into underwriting processes.
• Maintain underwriting policies, procedures, guidelines and Letters of Authority.
• Produce management information, KPI and exception reporting for senior stakeholders.
• Support regulatory reviews and oversight assessments.
• Provide line management and training to the Underwriting Controls Analyst.

Job description

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) is recruiting for a permanent Underwriting Controls Manager to join our Underwriting Management team. Reporting to the Head of Underwriting Management, you will play a key role in designing, implementing and maintaining TMK's underwriting controls framework. Working closely with Underwriting, Risk and Compliance teams, you will help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Lloyd's Oversight Principles and internal governance processes, while supporting continuous improvement and best practice across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain TMK's underwriting controls framework, identifying opportunities to strengthen existing processes and controls.
• Embed underwriting controls and best practice into underwriting processes and procedures.
• Maintain key underwriting policies, procedures, guidelines and Letters of Authority.
• Enhance processes as necessary.
• Support underwriter onboarding, including access to underwriting platforms and key applications.
• Produce management information, KPI and exception reporting for senior stakeholders and governance committees.
• Manage exceptions monitoring, controls testing and regulatory reporting activities.
• Support Lloyd's Oversight Principle reviews and Tokio Marine Group internal controls assessments Assist with regulatory reviews, reporting requirements, underwriting projects and the Independent Peer Review process.
• Act as Responsible for Distribution (RD) for TMK LIC secondees and provide underwriting controls oversight.
• Provide line management, support and training to the Underwriting Controls Analyst.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrable Lloyd's or London Market experience in underwriting controls, underwriting operations, risk, compliance or a similar function.
• Good knowledge and understanding of Lloyd's Oversight Principles.
• Experience of underwriting controls, exception reporting and regulatory requirements.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Confidence to work with and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• ACII qualified or working towards the CII Advanced Diploma would be advantageous.
