Job Description

Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Underwriting Assistant in our Insurance Operations team to support our UK Insurance Market, on a 12-month FTC basis.

This role will be within our London and UK Regions COO function. The Service Delivery team plays a vital role in supporting various business lines within our Underwriting team based in London, UK, while undertaking transformation activities to broaden and better control the services provided. This exciting opportunity will allow the incumbent to play an integral part in strengthening the operational resilience of the services provided by the Operations function, while laying the foundation for a career in Insurance.

Location: This position will be based in our London office. We promote a collaborative work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers.

What you'll be doing:

  • Data Collection and Entry: Gathering, validating, and inputting data, including transposing policy information from various documents to pricing platforms, policy administration systems, or other relevant systems.
  • Documentation Management: Preparing, organizing, and maintaining policy documentation and underwriting files with a functional knowledge of ImageRight, Guidewire, Workflow, Document Management Systems, and pricing platforms.
  • Process Coordination: Coordinating with departments and outsourced providers to facilitate smooth workflow and timely processing as per Standard Operating Procedures. This includes management of policies from submission to booking, assisting in renewals, managing cash balances, and ensuring KPIs are met regarding speed and quality.
  • Issue / Query resolution: Supporting effective service delivery by resolving queries within established timeframes, including follow-up on missing documents, management of outsourced providers' queries and errors.
  • Compliance Adherence: Ensuring SOPs are followed with related controls completed, and supporting internal/external audits.
  • Reporting: Providing accurate and timely input into the operational management dashboard.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying and documenting opportunities for process improvements, performing functional testing of IT and process changes, and participating in change/transformation activities as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Training: Completing all required training to understand the underwriting process and supporting the training of new team members.
