Brit is seeking an Underwriter (Casualty) to assess and underwrite direct Casualty risks for Brit Global Specialty in line with approved authority. You’ll work closely with the Class Underwriter to shape a robust, compliant portfolio and support market-facing activities.

You’ll stay abreast of market developments, contribute to reporting and audits, and build relationships with brokers while upholding integrity and fair outcomes in all decisions.

What you’ll be doing

• You’ll underwrite direct Casualty risks for Brit Global Specialty in line with our approved business plan and within your individual authority.
• You’ll evaluate and control risks, monitor capacity and refer matters to the Class Underwriter when appropriate, helping us build a strong and sustainable portfolio across the general commercial insurance market.
• Working closely with the Class Underwriter, you’ll support business planning and help maintain performance against agreed key indicators.
• You’ll contribute information for company reporting, support client audits and peer reviews, and make sure relevant underwriting information is recorded and reported within regulatory requirements.
• You’ll also keep up to date with market developments, analyse trends and use your findings to support sound underwriting decisions.
• You’ll build effective relationships with brokers and help research and develop new business opportunities.
• You’ll share your knowledge with colleagues, support the development of underwriting assistants and work collaboratively across the division, always acting with integrity, care and good judgement while keeping customers and fair outcomes in mind.
