Job summary

GOLD GROUP is seeking a Scientist to join a dedicated Research Team in Staffordshire, focusing on electromagnetic field studies, software development, and system design for vessel systems and underwater measurement ranges.

The ideal candidate holds a physics/maths degree with postgraduate experience, strong programming skills (C++ a bonus), and familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, COMSOL, and FEA. Travel to UK/global sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (or higher) in physics, mathematics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification or relevant experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong programming skills (experience in C++ is a plus).
  • Experience in electromagnetic modelling, Vector Fields FEA, COMSOL, MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous.
  • Strong written communication and report writing skills.
  • Confident in presenting and customer interactions.
  • Willingness to travel for site work, research, or commissioning trials in the UK and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Magnetic and electric source modelling.
  • Electromagnetic field propagation in various media.
  • Finite Element & Boundary Element Analysis.
  • Underwater Signature Analysis (electromagnetic, acoustic, pressure, seismic).
  • Numerical and optimisation methods.
  • Modern control theory.
