The Hammersmith HPB unit is now one of the largest in West London, acting as a receiving centre for patients with liver, pancreatic, and biliary disorders from the region, the UK, and worldwide. It is recognized as a world leader in innovation and clinical practice, and is part of Imperial College, ranked third in biomedical research worldwide.
The unit has four HPB consultants, clinical research fellows, and Specialty Trainees (ST). It has a strong record in research on gene therapy, genomic and stem cell therapy for chronic liver disease, and radiofrequency devices for HPB malignancy management.
The post will be for 6 months with potential extension.
Participate in patient care, on-call duties, outpatient clinics, and theatre sessions covering HPB patients. Cover activities of the HPB surgical team, including ward rounds, clinics, and theatre sessions, as well as general surgical on-calls within Hammersmith Hospital, including OG and Endocrine patients out of hours. Attend departmental meetings, morning assemblies, weekly MDTMs, and grand rounds. On-call frequency is 1 in 7 non-resident after 8 pm.

Same as main duties above, with added emphasis on weekly teaching programs for SHOs and registrars, involvement in research, and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.
