Job summary

The University of Warwick seeks a Facility Officer for the Warwick Centre for Ultrafast Spectroscopy to establish new ultrafast optical microscopy experiments and deploy systems in scientific applications in the physical sciences. A focus will be on femtosecond material dynamics with nanoscale 3D information using visible and infrared light.

The post is a fixed-term 2-year contract starting 1 January 2027, with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Expertise developing ultrafast microscopy experiments.
• Experience using femtosecond lasers to create ultrafast pump/probe spectrometers.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Strong planning and time management to achieve research objectives.
• Ability to train and support users safely.

Responsibilities

• Establish new ultrafast optical microscopy experiments.
• Deploy systems in scientific applications in physical sciences.
• Train new users in safe and effective use of the apparatus.
• Collaborate with WCUS and Physics/Chemistry departments.
