Tax & Law - Global Compliance & Reporting - Corporate Tax Manager - London - Japanese Inbounds Market

Our Global Compliance and Reporting team assists businesses in meeting complex tax reporting requirements, along with providing tax advisory, strategy, and controversy services. The team continues to grow due to strong client demand.

Using deep technical expertise, industry knowledge, established methodologies, and advanced tax technologies, we work with large, complex multinational companies (primarily FTSE and significant inbound businesses) to develop and implement effective, practical, and sustainable tax strategies.

The opportunity
Following significant growth from high-profile client wins and expanding opportunities in the Japanese inbound market, we are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager in our London office. The candidate must be able to communicate fluently in Japanese, both written and spoken. This role offers the chance to work with some of the largest clients in the market, helping them navigate an increasingly complex tax environment.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients
  • Manage the delivery of complex compliance and reporting projects, as well as related consulting engagements
  • Provide exceptional client service
  • Collaborate with other tax teams and stakeholders (e.g., EY Japan)
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor junior staff to support their development
  • Lead team initiatives to ensure successful outcomes
Skills and attributes for success:
  • Extensive experience in Corporate Tax, either from practice or in-house
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with knowledge of Japanese culture and business practices
  • Negotiation skills and stakeholder management abilities
  • Business development skills to identify and convert opportunities
  • Effective time management and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Team-oriented with the ability to foster effective teams
  • Experience in coaching and developing junior staff
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work
Minimum qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience as a corporate tax practitioner
  • ACA / CA / ACCA / CTA or equivalent qualification, including technical training or law qualification
  • Proficiency in Japanese, both written and spoken

  • Ability to quickly integrate into new teams
  • Outgoing personality with good relationship skills
  • Ability to deliver quality results consistently
