Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal or Associate Director Transport Planner (UK wide) with Highways Development Management expertise to join the team in Birmingham or Bristol. The role focuses on Development Management, providing transport advice to public sector clients and reviewing planning applications to ensure policy compliance and deliverability.

You will mentor junior staff, support client relationships, and influence planning decisions across a broad range of schemes from local developments

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Transport Planning or a related discipline (e.g. Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning).
• Proven Highways Development Management experience within transport planning.
• Experience acting on behalf of Highway Authorities and reviewing planning applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the provision of transport advice to public sector clients, primarily in planning context.
• Review and respond to planning applications; ensure developments are safe and policy-compliant.
• Mentor junior team members and build capability within Development Management.
• Maintain strong relationships with local authority clients and support team growth.
• Engage with planners, developers and stakeholders to integrate transport into development decisions.
