Job summary

Market 36 in Braintree, Essex is seeking a UK Sales Manager to lead the UK sales team, shape and execute sales strategies, and drive growth across target markets with regular travel throughout the UK.

You'll oversee budgets and forecasts, manage key customer relationships, and collaborate with Product Management, R&D and other internal teams to maximise profitability. This is a full-time, permanent role with a 40-hour week and company car, laptop, and phone.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop the UK sales team through coaching, performance reviews and ongoing support.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Develop commercial policies, pricing strategies and product offerings to maximise profitability.
  • Produce sales forecasts and monitor margins against targets.
  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure effective reporting of sales performance.
  • Work with Product Management, R&D and other internal departments to support business objectives.
  • Coordinate activities with the wider sales function and local service managers.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel throughout the UK (approximately 40-70%) to support customers and business development.

UK Sales Manager

Location: Braintree, Essex

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Main Purpose of the Role

As the UK Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading the UK sales team, developing and implementing sales strategies, managing key customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities. You will work closely with senior leadership to drive commercial performance, oversee budgets and forecasts, and ensure the business continues to grow within its target markets. The role requires regular travel throughout the UK to support customers, distributors and the wider sales team.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and develop the UK sales team through coaching, performance reviews and ongoing support.
  • Recruit, train and develop team members where required.
  • Manage relationships with existing key accounts while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve company growth objectives.

  • Monitor business performance through agreed KPIs including sales, margins, EBITDA, customer satisfaction and team performance.
  • Travel throughout the UK (approximately 40-70%) to support customers and business development activities.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Build long-term relationships with electrical distributors, wholesalers and strategic customers.
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximise commercial performance.
  • Continuously review business processes and implement improvements where appropriate.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the sales function remains compliant.
  • Establish and review performance indicators across the sales department.
  • Promote collaboration across departments to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve business objectives.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will have:
  • Proven experience in a sales leadership or senior sales management role.
  • Strong business development and key account management experience.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing sales teams.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and commercial decision-making abilities.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts and sales performance.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Previous B2B sales experience, ideally within the electrical, industrial, tools or PPE sectors.
  • Knowledge of technical products and applications would be advantageous.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Master's degree would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • A willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.
  • A full UK driving licence.
