Job summary

mgpru requires a Payroll Specialist to deliver accurate UK payroll services for our Scotland-based team, ensuring timely processing with strong governance and controls. You will collaborate with HR Operations to support operations and projects and provide expert payroll guidance.

The role focuses on payroll accounting, month-end reporting and resolving complex payroll issues while maintaining compliance and service excellence across UK payrolls.

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of UK payroll legislation including PAYE, NIC, RTI, pensions and year-end requirements
• Experience supporting payroll accounting processes
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing payroll information
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and deliver to challenging deadlines
• Experience supporting audit, risk and control activities
• Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Ability to build effective working relationships across teams
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills

Responsibilities

• Provide payroll-related guidance to the business and identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and service delivery
• Ensure accurate and timely UK payroll processing and completion of control checks and statutory obligations
• Investigate and resolve payroll-related queries in a professional and timely manner
• Lead or participate in HR Operations projects to deliver operational and change objectives
• Act as a subject matter expert for payroll processes and advise colleagues
• Assess and manage payroll-related risks with proper controls
• Review payroll processes and drive continuous improvements
• Deliver payroll accounting activities, including reconciliations and month-end reporting
