Job summary

Fourth is seeking a Payroll Implementation Specialist to onboard new payroll and pension customers, configuring PAYE, pension schemes and tax balances, and ensuring data accuracy through live payroll processing.

You will support existing customers during significant payroll events, build strong client relationships, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful transitions and ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable UK payroll experience with PAYE, NI, statutory payments and payroll compliance.
• Experience implementing or configuring payroll software in SaaS/technology environments.
• High accuracy and attention to detail with data loads and configurations.
• Ability to manage multiple implementations simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Confident, customer-focused communicator who can explain payroll concepts to stakeholders.
• Strong documentation skills and a methodical problem-solving approach.
• Self-motivated and autonomous, capable of owning the implementation journey end-to-end.
• Collaborative team player with a focus on customer experience.
• Familiarity with TUPE regulations and their payroll implications.

Responsibilities

• Own onboarding for new payroll customers; conduct discovery to determine pay frequencies, employee populations, and requirements; configure PAYE, pay elements, pension schemes, deductions and tax balances; manage data loads and parallel runs.
• Process a minimum of two live payrolls per new customer; validate outputs and resolve discrepancies; administer pensions and ensure RTI accuracy (FPS/EPS submissions, rollbacks, EYU).
• Reconcile payroll and pension data; resolve HMRC queries; highlight configuration gaps and data quality risks.
• Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for each customer (payroll calendars, configuration records, processing guides) and manage handovers to the Payroll Bureau.
• Support customers through payroll changes (new PAYE schemes, TUPE transfers) and act as SME for configuration queries.
• Engage with clients and collaborate with Project Management, Solution Consulting and Customer Success to ensure smooth transitions and ongoing improvements.
