Recruitment Consultant for Accountancy & Finance (Transactional) at Iconic Resourcing

UK Payroll Analyst

Location: Aberdeen, Stirling, Glasgow or Edinburgh

Our client is looking for a skilled and motivated Payroll Analyst to join our dynamic payroll team, within their well-established Accountancy firm. This is a key role where you'll take the lead in managing client relationships, overseeing day-to-day payroll operations, and supporting the development of the team. If you're a proactive self-starter with a passion for payroll and people, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of client scheduling and ensure adherence to agreed payroll process manuals.
  • Process payrolls and oversee team resources to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards, using the Bureau Management System daily.
  • Lead payroll projects and support continuous improvement efforts by identifying and implementing process enhancements.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships across your portfolio—handling processes, monitoring recoveries, and resolving any fee-related queries.
  • Work closely with the Payroll Manager to identify training needs and support team development through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Supervise daily team activities, providing clear direction, setting expectations, and offering regular, constructive feedback.
  • Manage all payroll-related correspondence for your clients and ensure queries are resolved promptly.
  • Monitor and respond to employer and employee enquiries within agreed timelines, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Take charge of new client onboarding—managing the full implementation process from start to finish.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of pension schemes, including setup and administration.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a similar payroll role
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Confident working independently as well as part of a collaborative team
  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail
  • A team player who builds strong working relationships at all levels
