Job summary

Alpheus, part of the Anglian Water Group, seeks a Head of UK Operations to lead the safe, compliant delivery of its O&M portfolio across the UK.

You will oversee a national operation, shape strategy, build high-performance teams and strengthen key customer partnerships while driving sustainable growth and operational excellence.

This role offers a hybrid working model with travel across the UK and a focus on safety, innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental, mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
• IOSH RAMS and activity management experience or equivalent.
• Significant senior leadership experience in operations, engineering, utilities or related sector.
• Proven experience managing large-scale operational contracts and multi-million-pound budgets.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing performance, profitability and customers.
• Demonstrable success building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing operational teams.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the UK.
• Desirable: IOSH Process Safety qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in water and wastewater operations or utilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational delivery of all Alpheus O&M contracts UK-wide, ensuring safe, compliant performance.
• Provide strategic leadership to operational teams, aligning resources with business objectives.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior customer stakeholders as a partner.
• Drive health, safety, quality, environmental performance and process safety.
• Develop O&M leadership and succession across the business.
• Ensure governance, compliance and continuous improvement across portfolios.
• Own the financial performance, budgets, profitability and commercial outcomes.
• Conduct performance reviews, identify risks and implement corrective actions.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities and shaping solutions.
• Lead mobilisation and implementation of newly awarded contracts.
• Represent Alpheus with customers, regulators, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement across sites.
