Overall Purpose of the Role:

The Marketing Manager will develop and deliver the Chartwells Universities & Colleges Proposition, focusing on driving profitable revenue growth through participation and MAP2 growth, supporting sales and retention pipelines.

This will be achieved through creating measurable activation plans targeting key categories like lunch, hot beverages, and food to go, increasing participation, spend, and frequency via apps, kiosks, and tills.

The role involves engaging with stakeholders, ensuring activity aligns with insights and internal protocols, and communicating progress regularly.

More about the role:

  • Developing and communicating the annual marketing plan for colleges and universities in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Creating engaging promotional materials using third-party agencies and in-house tools within set budgets and timelines.
  • Managing external creative agencies and producing operational briefing documents for campaigns.
  • Creating marketing assets via Canva for digital and print activities.
  • Building and managing the marketing budget with approval from senior management.
  • Securing sponsorships to fund marketing activities.
  • Approving promotional business cases for retail promotions supporting growth.

Food Development:

  • Determining the Annual Food Development Plan through collaboration with the Executive Development Chef, leveraging consumer insights to innovate and meet consumer needs.

Insight:

  • Gathering market, consumer, and operator insights to inform marketing and food offer strategies.
  • Creating and promoting annual surveys to gather consumer insights.
  • Developing point-of-sale materials and operator briefings to maximize survey responses.
  • Producing comprehensive reports on survey findings with detailed site-level data.

Brand Standards:

  • Maintaining brand standards across all Chartwells brands and outlets.
  • Ensuring new templates adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Approving visual designs for outlets and branded items.
  • Supporting SOP development for creating welcoming, sales-optimized spaces.
  • Updating digital content on platforms like Real Life Tech, Uni Food Hub, and Time2Eat app.
  • Managing menu uploads and edits across digital platforms.

Student Engagement & Community Marketing Managers:

  • Supporting skill development through training and advice.
  • Briefing and managing campaigns and projects like Freshers.
  • Supporting content creation for social media and sales presentations.
  • Organizing photoshoots and producing related materials.
