Job summary

Davies invites applications for a Forensic Collision Investigator role based in the United Kingdom. The position is home-based across the Midland & Southern Regions with national travel and occasional international travel to support cases.

You will investigate serious and fatal road traffic collisions, reconstruct events, and prepare Court-compliant reports. A degree in engineering/physics, hands-on collision experience, and a valid driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering or physics-related discipline.
• Practical knowledge of collision investigation with hands-on experience.
• Full driving licence (category B).
• Incorporated or Chartered Engineer Status (MIET, Ieng, CEng) or similar.
• Collision Investigation Qualifications (UCPD, Cert HE or equivalent).
• Full driving licence with endorsements obtained through further training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle examinations to assess damage and roadworthiness.
• Download and analyse vehicle data (ECU, Event Data Recorder).
• Conduct site visits and incident reconstructions.
• Apply traditional collision investigation techniques to determine impact speeds.
• Perform 3D surveys, modelling, photogrammetry and simulations.
• Analyse CCTV/video footage and other documentary evidence.
• Consider human factors; account for night-time collisions and conspicuity.
• Attend court as an expert witness when required.
