Job Description

We’re looking for a driven, high-energy individual to join our new Group & UK FinCrime Compliance Monitoring & Testing (CMT) team as a Manager. In this role, you’ll collaborate with teams from Product, Operations, and Compliance to lead and execute global and UK-focused FinCrime monitoring & testing/assurance reviews that protect Wise and our customers from financial crime. You will also mentor junior team members, ensuring adherence to our methodologies and industry best practices, fostering a culture of excellence.

Your work will help maintain robust, scalable FinCrime controls aligned with global and local regulations. By working with cross-functional and regional stakeholders, you will play a vital role in safeguarding Wise’s customers, reputation, and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities / Your Mission
  1. Control Testing & Issue Validation: Oversee control reviews from Scoping to Reporting, ensuring quality and timeliness, and validate issues effectively.
  2. Monitoring: Lead monitoring activities over key FinCrime risks, identify compliance gaps, and prepare reports for management.
  3. Coaching & Development: Provide ongoing guidance and training to junior team members on methodologies, test scripts, and best practices.
  4. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Operations, Product, Compliance, and Internal Audit to ensure effective review delivery.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Over 5 years in assurance reviews, issue validation within Compliance, Financial Crime, Risk, or Audit, preferably in payments or fintech.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Financial Crime regulations, testing methodologies, and risk frameworks, especially UK and global compliance standards.
  • Team & Quality Management: Experience managing a small team, prioritizing tasks, and coaching junior staff to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, capable of translating complex regulations into effective monitoring activities and engaging stakeholders.
  • Travel: Based in London, willing to travel occasionally abroad (about once a quarter).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, or related fields; relevant certifications (e.g., ACAMS, ICA) preferred.
