Lead Financial Crime Analyst, Business Banking

Role Overview: We are seeking a knowledgeable Financial Crime Business Banking Subject Matter Expert to lead our strategy for Monzo’s Business Bank. This individual will be the FinCrime lead within a cross-functional team dedicated to building and refining controls to prevent financial crime while ensuring excellent customer experience. This is an Individual Contributor role, focusing on expertise and leadership without direct management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategy for developing financial crime prevention systems for Monzo’s Business Bank.
  • Lead a team of Fincrime risk specialists to implement strategies as new products are developed and markets expanded.
  • Build strategic relationships with Fincrime and Fraud experts, product owners, and senior executives to provide expert advice and define business needs.
  • Develop and monitor industry-leading detection capabilities in collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and product teams.
  • Support the development of Fincrime systems to manage risks across multiple jurisdictions effectively.
  • Coordinate closely with Fincrime operations teams to ensure effective communication and risk management.
  • Define and report on key performance metrics related to Fincrime systems.
  • Identify priority issues and collaborate on solutions to address them.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Extensive knowledge of managing Financial Crime risks in Business, Commercial, and Corporate banking environments.
  • Experience implementing policies and procedures for Business-specific products.
  • Proven experience working with mature Fincrime systems across various products and locations.
  • Strong collaboration skills with product managers, engineers, and data scientists.
  • Experience leading diverse Fincrime and technical teams.
  • Passion for Fincrime prevention, Monzo’s mission, and customer-centric solutions.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in explaining complex processes and technical requirements in flawless English.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to making things happen.
  • Comfortable working with data to inform decisions.
