Job summary

GSK is seeking an experienced leader to head EHSS for UK R&D sites. You will set direction, coach a regional EHSS team, and ensure safe, compliant operations across Stevenage and the planned Cambridge hub.

You will partner with scientists, facilities, and leadership to drive continuous improvement and risk reduction. The role emphasizes technical leadership, inclusive management, and delivery of EHSS strategies in a fast‑moving, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant scientific, engineering or technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Post-graduate qualification or professional membership in EHSS‑related discipline.
• Proven experience leading EHSS delivery in a regulated technical environment or co‑creation of EHS strategy in Pharma R&D.
• Strong leadership and people development in line or matrix structures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with senior leaders and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a regional EHSS team to deliver consistent services across UK R&D sites.
• Set EHSS direction for the UK R&D cluster and translate strategy into site‑level plans.
• Provide technical guidance on risk management, compliance and performance monitoring.
• Build partnerships with scientists, facilities, occupational health and leadership teams.
• Drive EHSS programs, audits, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Act as focal point for EHSS matters for the Stevenage site and Cambridge expansion.
