Qualifications

Build the applications that trading, risk, and research teams rely on to make decisions in real time.

Location: London

Salary: Up to £160,000 base + Bonus + Equity

We’re partnering with an institutional financial services firm operating across traditional and digital assets to hire a Senior Full Stack Engineer. You’ll develop sophisticated trading interfaces and the backend services behind them, combining deep TypeScript expertise with production Python development.

The opportunity

Working in a small engineering team, you’ll take features from initial conversations with users through to production. Your work will span order entry, execution monitoring, risk dashboards, and research visualisation, with direct access to the people using these tools.

You’ll also help shape the frontend architecture, shared components, and engineering practices that support future development across the firm.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building responsive trading screens, live data grids, and interactive visualisations for complex financial workflows.
• Developing Python services, APIs, and event-driven components supporting order management and trading operations.
• Connecting interfaces to live data through Kafka, WebSockets, and server-sent events.
• Ensuring applications handle connection failures, missed updates, and outdated data clearly and reliably.
• Developing TypeScript services that connect frontend applications with the wider platform.

What you’ll bring

• At least 5 years of full-stack engineering experience, with substantial depth in frontend development.
• Strong TypeScript skills and advanced knowledge of Angular, React, or Vue. The team uses Angular and welcomes engineers from other modern frameworks.
• Production Python experience building and operating APIs or event-driven services.
• Experience delivering real-time applications, including streaming updates, reconnection, and recovery.
• Confidence working with complex data grids such as AG Grid Enterprise or an equivalent.
• Experience building charts and visualisations over large datasets.
• Experience with trading systems, OpenFin or similar desktop platforms, financial order lifecycles, or quantitative research tools would be an advantage.
• Own meaningful systems from interface through to backend services.
• Work directly with traders, risk specialists, and quantitative researchers.
• Influence frontend standards and architecture across the organisation.
• Solve demanding problems involving live data, visualisation, and trading workflows.
