Job summary

Equans, sittingbourne-based contractor for street lighting maintenance, is seeking an LV Jointers Mate to support our long-term Kent contract. You will work from the Sittingbourne office, assisting the jointer with cable jointing tasks and ensuring safe operations in live environments under our distribution safety rules.

The role requires basic health and safety knowledge, manual handling and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Basic health and safety knowledge required.
• Experience on electrical infrastructure projects preferred.
• Strong communication and organisational skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out site risk assessments prior to work.
• Set up site per NRSWA chapter 8.
• Install ducting and cable to DNO specs.
• Assist jointer and maintain safety in live environments.
• Record task sheets and assist as-built drawings.

This position is based from our Sittingbourne office.Key activitiesTo carry out Site Specific Risk Assessment prior to any site activities electronically on Tablet providedTo set up site in accordance with chapter 8 of NRSWA street works code of practiceTo fulfil Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's HSQE Policies and HSQE Management PlansTo comply with the Company’s Policies, Management Plans, Procedures and to work alongside the companies distribution safety rulesTo ensure that all materials are transported to and from site in a safe and secure manner without damage and disposed of correctly where applicableTo install ducting systems to DNO specificationsTo install cable to DNO specificationsTo prepare and commence with their work activities and assist with the duties of a jointers mate whilst the jointer is carrying out cable jointing tasks as per the adopting utilities requirementsTo ensure that whilst carrying out works in a live environment that they are working in a manner that complies with companies Operational Procedures and distribution safety rules. Also ensure the adopting utilities jointers mates responsibilities methods of working are being adhered to at all timesTo liaise with the DNO control centre during operations as and when required and report any near misses and hazards using the Equans AIMS hotline along with adopting utilities reporting proceduresTo ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all timesTo ensure that the full co-operation and best customer relations are maintained at all times specifically on siteTo make full use of all personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to flame retardant coveralls, hard hat with chin strap, task gloves, goggles, ear defenders and boots at all appropriate times.To ensure that the authorised Persons task instructions that are issued electronically are complied with at all times.To assist with the completion of the task sheet on the tablet for each and every job, alongside assisting with as build drawings and energisation/disconnection sheets where applicableTo ensure the security of company information and propertyTo minimise third party claims i.e. Public Liability and customer complaintsSkills, qualifications & experienceBasic health and safety knowledgeManually handlingExperience working on electrical infrastructure projects, with a focus on high voltage systems (not required to be electrically biased).Excellent communication and organisational skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.We offer an excellent benefits package includingGenerous holiday leaveAviva Private GP consultationsWestfield Health cash planGym membership discountPensionCompany share schemeCycle to work schemeWho are we?In the UK & Ireland, Equans is a provider of sustainable facilities management and regeneration, and cutting-edge energy and digital services.
