Job summary

Equans is recruiting an LV Jointer to join our cable connection team for a long-term street lighting maintenance contract in Kent. The role is based from the Sittingbourne office.

You will perform cable jointing to DNO specifications, install ducting, and uphold HSQE standards while coordinating with DNO control centres and maintaining strong on-site customer relations. A focus on safety and efficient, accurate work will be essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent health and safety knowledge.

• Solid experience working on electrical infrastructure projects, with a focus on high voltage systems.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Carry out site-specific risk assessment before activities on Tablet.
• Set up site in accordance with chapter 8 of NRSWA street works code of practice.
• Fulfil HSQE responsibilities by adherence to HSQE Policies and Management Plans.
• Comply with Company policies and work alongside distribution safety rules.
• Ensure materials are transported safely to and from site and disposed of correctly.
• Install ducting systems to DNO specifications.
• Install cable to DNO specifications.
• Prepare and commence work activities and carry out cable jointing tasks as per adopting utilities requirements.
• Work in live environments compliant with Operational Procedures and distribution safety rules; adhere to adopting utilities jointing methods.
• Liaise with the DNO control centre and report near misses and hazards using BYES NOC hotline and reporting procedures.
• Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
• Co-operate and maintain best customer relations on site.
• Check that authorised Persons task instructions are complied with.
• Complete task sheet on tablet for each job.

We have a great opportunity for an LV Jointer to join our cable connection team to support our long term street lighting maintenance contract covering Kent. This position is based from our Sittingbourne office.

Key activities

• Carry out site specific risk assessment prior to any site activities electronically on Tablet provided
• Set up site in accordance with chapter 8 of NRSWA street works code of practice
• To fulfil Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's HSQE Policies and HSQE Management Plans
• Comply with the Company’s Policies, Management Plans, Procedures and to work alongside the company’s distribution safety rules
• Ensure that all materials are transported to and from site in a safe and secure manner without damage and disposed of correctly where applicable
• Install ducting systems to DNO specifications
• To install cable to DNO specifications
• Prepare and commence with their work activities and carry out cable jointing tasks as per the adopting utilities requirements.
• To ensure that whilst carrying out works in a live environment that they are working in a manner that complies with companies Operational Procedures and distribution safety rules. Also ensure the adopting utilities jointing methods are being adhered to at all times
• Liaise with the DNO control centre during operations as and when required and report any near misses and hazards using the BYES NOC hotline along with adopting utilities reporting procedures
• Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times
• To ensure that the full co-operation and best customer relations are maintained at all times specifically on site
• Check that the authorised Persons task instructions that are issued electronically are complied with at all times.
• Complete task sheet on tablet for each and every job
