Job summary

SubSea Craft Limited in Portsmouth is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop, integrate, and prototype electrical and electronic systems for special‑purpose platforms. You will contribute from concept through design, prototype build, testing and validation, blending electrical design with hands‑on workshop work.

Applicants should have a degree in Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering or related STEM field, plus hands‑on experience with schematics, wiring, and testing equipment; security

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics or Mechatronic Engineering or related STEM field.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, integrating, or testing electrical/electronic systems.
• Understanding of DC power, grounding, protection, cables, and schematics.
• Ability to assemble and test electrical systems with common lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical and electronic systems for special‑purpose platforms and UAS.
• Produce system architecture, schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness specs.
• Perform power calculations, cable sizing, protection, and component derating.
• Integrate sensors, controllers, telemetry, and communications equipment.
• Create BOMs, drawings, test procedures, and design records.
• Support off‑site trials, troubleshoot, and modify prototype systems.
• Work with suppliers on components, queries, obsolescence, and compliance.
• Support electrical testing, bench tests, and system commissioning.
• Interface embedded hardware with software as required.
• Combine office design with hands‑on workshop work (wiring, soldering, assembly).
• Prototype rapidly from concepts to working prototypes.
