Job summary

Cornerstone Project Source Ltd is seeking a permanent Fabrication & Welding Manager to take full ownership of production output across two fabrication workshops in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.

The role is hands-on and leadership-focused, requiring depth in heavy-gauge carbon steel and a methodical approach to running a workshop floor. Start is immediate; salary circa £60,000 DOE plus a performance-related bonus.

Qualifications

• Senior management experience in fabrication or welding within structural steel.
• Technical grasp of carbon steel fabrication and MIG welding.
• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in welding or fabrication.
• Experience managing production workflow and teams.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between workshops.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all fabrication and welding operations at both depots.
• Write and maintain welding/fabrication procedures per standards.
• Ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 3834-2, 9606, 15614, 5817, 1090.
• Set performance standards for welders and fabricators.
• Develop a production programme protecting delivery dates and reducing waste.
• Keep risk assessments current for all activities.
• Drive lean manufacturing improvements in the workshop.
• Collaborate with estimating, design and logistics to align targets.
• Uphold health and safety per UK legislation; LOLER-compliant lifts.
• Maintain traceability of materials across two locations.
• Oversee stock levels to prevent delays.
• Meet COSHH regulations for paints and hazardous substances.
