Job summary

Cornerstone Project Source is seeking a permanent Fabrication & Welding Manager to take full ownership of production output across two workshops in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. This hands-on leadership position sits within the existing management team, guiding welders and fabricators with a focus on quality and on-time delivery.

The successful candidate will enforce procedures, drive lean improvements, and coordinate with estimating, design and logistics to ensure targets are met, while

Qualifications

• 3+ years in senior fabrication or welding management.
• Proven leadership of teams in heavy-gauge carbon steel environments.
• Strong knowledge of MIG welding and carbon steel fabrication.
• Experience with welding codes and standards up to EXC3.
• Ability to plan, deliver and continuously improve production.
• Excellent communicator with management-level coordination skills.
• Full UK driving licence required for travel between workshops.

Responsibilities

• Lead fabrication and welding operations across two depots.
• Maintain and update procedures for welding and fabrication to industry norms and customer specs.
• Ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 3834-2, 9606, 15614, 5817, 1090 and internal tolerances.
• Set floor standards for welders and fabricators focusing on quality and throughput.
• Develop a production programme that meets delivery dates while reducing waste.
• Keep risk assessments current for all fabrication activities.
• Drive lean manufacturing improvements and shop floor optimisation.
• Collaborate with estimating, design and logistics to align targets.
• Uphold health and safety to UK legislation and LOLER requirements.
• Maintain full traceability on materials and keep stock levels adequate.
• Meet COSHH obligations for paints, chemicals and hazardous products.
