Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a practical Caretaker for a well-established primary school in Rotherham, England. This full-time, permanent role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean and well-presented environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

You will perform daily site checks, assist with events, supervise access, liaise with contractors, and support health and safety practices. The role requires reliability, independence and a proactive approach to premises maintenance.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a caretaking or premises-related role.
• Basic computer and administrative skills.
• Relevant qualifications in maintenance, facilities, health and safety or a related trade would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily checks of the school buildings and grounds.
• Ensure classrooms and communal areas are safe and ready for use.
• Identify maintenance issues and report them appropriately.
• Complete minor repairs where competent to do so.
• Monitor doors, windows, fixtures and fittings.
• Support opening and closing procedures.
• Liaise with contractors and ensure they follow site procedures.
• Maintain site records and support fire safety checks.
• Assist with events and room setup/clear-down.
