Job summary

Oak Multi Academy Trust seeks an exceptional teacher developer to join our central leadership team as Instructional Coaching Lead. Reporting to the Teaching and Learning Lead, you will shape and lead a Trust-wide coaching strategy that strengthens practice across schools.

This is both strategic and practical, developing the coaching model and curriculum, training coaches, and modelling excellent coaching. You will work with headteachers and teaching and learning leaders to ensure coaching is

Qualifications

• Excellent teacher with substantial credibility in developing others' practice.
• Understanding of evidence and mechanisms behind effective instructional coaching, including modelling and feedback.
• Ability to lead implementation across multiple schools without reducing coaching to compliance.

Job description

OAK Multi Academy Trust is seeking an exceptional teacher developer to join our central leadership team as Instructional Coaching Lead. Reporting directly to the Teaching and Learning Lead, you will shape and lead a coherent Trust-wide coaching strategy that helps colleagues improve their practice and enables every pupil to benefit from consistently strong, inclusive teaching. This is both a strategic and practical role. As part of the Teaching and Learning team, you will develop OAK's coaching model and professional-development curriculum, train and support coaches, model excellent coaching, quality-assure implementation and use evidence intelligently to guide improvement. You will work closely with headteachers and teaching and learning leaders while maintaining the trust, developmental purpose and professional safety on which effective coaching depends. OAK already has a strong foundation. The Overdales are a Steplab Coaching Hub, and instructional coaching is central to our approach to school development. We now want a Trust leader who can connect and strengthen this work across primary and secondary phases, use the Steplab platform purposefully, and ensure coaching is responsive to differing levels of teacher expertise and the needs of pupils.We are looking for someone who

• is an excellent teacher with substantial credibility in developing the practice of others;
• understands the evidence and mechanisms behind effective instructional coaching, including precise action steps, modelling, rehearsal and responsive feedback;
• can lead implementation across several schools without reducing coaching to compliance or confusing it with appraisal;
• develops other coaches through training, practice, feedback and thoughtful quality assurance;
• can connect coaching with curriculum, adaptive teaching, inclusion and OAK's wider educational priorities;
• is an influential, relational leader who combines clarity and high expectations with humility, curiosity and professional respect. Full-time applications are preferred; however, part-time and job share applications will be considered. Whilst this is a fixed-term position, there may be the opportunity for the contract to be extended or become permanent in the future.
