Job summary

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is inviting applications for a Trust Doctor in Glaucoma within the Department of Ophthalmology. The post is primarily based at Seacroft Hospital with some sessions at St James's University Hospital, commencing Nov/Dec 2026.

You must be GMC-registered and licensed to practice by the start date. Join our Ophthalmology (Glaucoma) team to deliver high-quality care, contribute to teaching and research, and work within a supportive multidisciplinary environment

Qualifications

• Fully registered with the General Medical Council and licensed to practice by start date.
• FRCOphth (or equivalent) and at least four years of higher specialist training.
• Interest in glaucoma and ophthalmology with commitment to patient care.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Join the Ophthalmology (Glaucoma) team and support consultants in delivering a high-quality tertiary glaucoma service.
• Work across Glaucoma clinics and the Ophthalmology ARC, with sessions at Seacroft Hospital and St James's University Hospital.
• Collaborate with GMU technicians and other clinical teams to enhance patient care.
• Develop increasing autonomy while contributing to teaching and a research portfolio.

We are inviting applications for the position of Trust Doctor in Glaucoma within the Department of Ophthalmology at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is due to commence in Nov/Dec 2026.Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice by the intended start date.

Main duties of the job

Join the Ophthalmology (Glaucoma) team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as a Trust Specialty Doctor, primarily based at Seacroft Hospital, with some sessions at St Jamess University Hospital. Supporting our Consultant team in delivering a high-quality tertiary Glaucoma service, you will enjoy a varied clinical role spanning Glaucoma clinics and the Ophthalmology Acute Referral Clinic (ARC), working closely with our Glaucoma Monitoring Unit (GMU) technicians and wider multidisciplinary team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed ophthalmologist with a strong passion for delivering outstanding patient care and advancing their clinical practice. Whether you are a post-CCT doctor or an experienced ophthalmologist with FRCOphth (or equivalent) and at least four years of higher specialist training, you will be supported to develop increasing autonomy while contributing to our active research portfolio and innovative teaching hospital environment.
