Job description

Day to day, you will be maintaining and operating the sewer network and its associated assets, carrying out basic mechanical maintenance and fault finding. The work involves confined space access in some of London’s most challenging subterranean areas.

What you’ll be doing as a Trunk Sewer Technician
  1. Complete planned, emergency, and defect maintenance of the trunk sewer network.
  2. Physically maintain the sewer network and associated assets, such as penstock gates.
  3. Operate plant and equipment.
  4. Perform cleaning, basic maintenance, and fault-finding.
  5. Note: The role requires working in confined spaces, at heights, and lifting heavy loads; training will be provided.
Base location:

Hammersmith (PS), W6 9RS

Working hours:

38 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 3:45 pm; with 1 week out of 5 on the night shift from 9:00 pm - 5:30 am; includes standby rota with additional payment.

What you should bring to the role
  • Previous maintenance experience, especially mechanical, with qualifications preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging environments, including manual handling of large mechanical assets.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach.
  • Initiative and flexibility.
  • A valid UK driving licence is desirable; HGV training can be provided.
  • Willingness to work on a shift pattern, including nights and out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • Must be clean-shaven for proper use of respiratory protective equipment (RPE).
