The Trisomy Screening service in Clinical Pathology at Nottingham University Hospitals provides a screening chance of a pregnancy being
affected by Down's, Edwards and Patau's syndromes for the antenatal populations of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. This is part of the National Foetal Anomaly Screening programme.
The laboratory team is looking to recruit a medical laboratory assistant to support this service.

The main duties of the role are to perform pre-analytical reception and processing duties including the receipt, barcode labelling and preparation
of blood samples for analysis. Accurate entry of patient demographics and pregnancy details into the laboratory risk calculation software. Loading
of samples on to laboratory equipment and sample archiving. Perform general housekeeping duties including maintaining stock levels, general
cleaning and waste disposal.

This role will be based in laboratories at City campus of NUH.
NUH offers a wide range of staff health and wellbeing activities and support.
Participation in the safe and efficient delivery of Trisomy and pre-eclampsia diagnostic services in the Specialist Laboratory section of Clinical Pathology.
This involves sample reception and booking-in of screening requests to the laboratory IT systems.
Pre-and post analytical blood sample processing.
Distribution of request cards, sample bottles and information leaflets to users.
Preparation and dispatch of low chance screening letters.
Clerical duties including filing, copying, monitoring screening email systems.
Taking telephone queries.
Housekeeping duties including general cleaning, waste disposal, stock control of laboratory supplies.
