Job summary

Northumberland County Council’s Tree and Woodland Team is seeking a Tree Inspector to conduct systematic inspections of council trees and woodlands, identifying needed works and coordinating with internal teams or external contractors. You will maintain records and provide progress reports, working across sites in Northumberland.

The role requires LANTRA Tree Inspection certification, an Arboriculture Level 4 qualification, knowledge of tree biology, pest/diseases, and hazard assessment, plus a

Qualifications

  • Professional Tree Inspection Certificate (LANTRA or equivalent).
  • Certificate in Arboriculture L4 or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of tree identification, pests/diseases, tree biology and hazard assessment.
  • Knowledge of Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) and THREATS risk systems.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience inspecting trees and woodlands.
  • Experience providing detailed records and reports.
  • Experience instructing arboricultural works.

Job Introduction

Tree Inspector

37 hours per week

Fixed Term - 12 month contract

Workingwithin the Tree and Woodland Team, part of the County Council’s Countryside and Green Spaces Team, we are looking for a Tree Inspector to conduct systematic inspections of the County Council’s trees and woodlands and identifying works required.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct proactive inspections of County Council trees.
  • Identify works required to remove any issues compromising public safety.
  • Provide works requests for Council Tree Teams or outside arboricultural contractors.
  • Keep accurate records and provide reports and updates on progress.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
  • Professional Tree Inspection Certificate (LANTRA or equivalent).
  • Certificate in Arboriculture L4 (or other equivalent Arboricultural or Horticultural qualification)
  • Good knowledge of tree identification, pest and diseases, tree biology, and tree hazard assessment.
  • Knowledge of industry standard arboricultural risk standards such as, Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA), Tree Hazard: Risk Evaluation and Treatment System (THREATS).
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Experience of conducting inspections of trees and woodlands.
  • Experience of providing detailed records and reports.
  • Experience of providing instructions for arboricultural works.
  • Ability to manage own workload, working independently at sites across Northumberland.
