Job summary

Broxtowe Borough Council is looking for an experienced Tree Officer to lead all tree work across the Borough’s parks and green spaces. You will inspect trees, assess health, and advise on maintenance to ensure sustainability.

The role is based at Kimberley Depot with travel across the Borough and a strong emphasis on engagement with residents and stakeholders. You’ll bring arboriculture qualifications, lead projects, and use digital tools for reporting, while enjoying a generous pension and

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in tree inspections and surveys.
  • Experience in tree management and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of tree species, health assessments and relevant legislation.
  • Assessing tree works and quality control.
  • Excellent communication with residents and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on all tree works and their management across the Borough.
  • Respond to tree-related queries and provide guidance to residents and stakeholders.
  • Ensure health and sustainability of trees across parks and green spaces.
  • Travel across the Borough from Kimberley Depot as required.
  • Use digital tools for reporting and record keeping.

Job description

Salary: £35,780 - £37,566. Scale 9. 37 hours per week Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join our Environment Team. You will lead on all tree works and their management across the Borough’s parks and green spaces, responding to tree-related queries and ensuring the health and sustainability of our trees.

The role is primarily based at our Kimberley Depot, although you will be expected to travel across the Borough.

We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:

  • Performing tree inspections and tree surveys
  • Proven experience in tree management and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of tree species, health assessments and relevant legislation.
  • Assessing tree works and quality control
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with residents and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate would:

  • Hold a Royal Forestry Society certificate in Arboriculture and/or Diploma in Arboriculture at equivalent level 3 or higher.
  • Demonstrates a passion for environmental conservation.
  • Have experience in managing tree-related projects and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Is proficient in using digital tools for reporting and record keeping.
  • Hold a valid driving licence.
