Job summary

MW Recruitment Limited is recruiting for an experienced Treasury Financial Controller to join the Funding & Markets Finance team of a leading international bank. You will own key financial control, accounting and reporting across Central Treasury, working with senior stakeholders in Treasury, Finance and Risk.

The role offers exposure to hedge accounting, FX reporting and opportunities to drive process improvements and automation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review and substantiate Treasury balance sheet accounts.

• Review month-end Treasury P&L; provide analysis to stakeholders.
• Review hedge accounting outputs; ensure IFRS 9/IAS 39 compliance.
• Prepare and post month-end journals and disclosures.
• Provide financial analysis supporting funding and Treasury activities.
• Support daily hedge accounting, FX reporting and P&L activities.
• Maintain robust financial controls; support audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve, automate and streamline processes.

Job description

We are recruiting for an experienced Treasury Financial Controller to join the Funding & Markets Finance team of a leading international bank.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of key financial control, accounting and reporting activities across Central Treasury.

Working within a small, hands-on team, you will gain exposure to senior stakeholders across Treasury, Finance and Risk, while developing your expertise in Treasury operations, hedge accounting, FX exposure reporting and Treasury P&L.

The role also offers the opportunity to drive process improvements, enhance financial controls and support automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and substantiate Treasury balance sheet accounts, ensuring reconciling items are investigated and resolved.
• Manage and monitor Treasury accounting feeds and interfaces into the General Ledger, resolving booking and reconciliation issues.
• Review month-end Treasury P&L, investigate movements and provide analysis and commentary to stakeholders.
• Review hedge accounting outputs, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies and documentation requirements.
• Prepare and post month-end journals, financial statement disclosures and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with Treasury stakeholders to provide financial analysis supporting funding and Treasury activities.
• Support daily hedge accounting processes, FX exposure reporting and Treasury P&L activities.
• Maintain a robust financial control environment, supporting internal and external audit requirements.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve, automate and streamline Treasury accounting, reporting and control processes.

Skills & Experience Required

• Qualified Chartered Accountant with relevant financial accounting and control experience.
• Strong experience in balance sheet reconciliations, substantiation and journal preparation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and explain complex financial movements.
• Experience working with General Ledger systems and financial reporting processes.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong systems proficiency.
• Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with finance and non-finance teams.
• Previous experience in financial control, month-end reporting or accounting within banking, Treasury or financial services.
• Understanding of financial instruments, Treasury products and associated accounting treatments.
• Knowledge of hedge accounting, including IFRS 9 and/or IAS 39.
• Exposure to Treasury P&L, FX exposure reporting and funding activities.
