Role Overview
The primary responsibility of Time Out’s Travel Writer will be to write engaging travel content that helps the travel section meet its editorial targets. The Travel Writer will support the Travel Editor in delivering Time Out’s travel content strategy by writing and editing digital travel news, lists, and features on Time Out’s worldwide site.
Time Out’s Travel Writer will have a keen eye for news stories and features that will stand out on readers’ feeds. They’ll also be brimming with ideas on the latest travel trends and topics, and they’ll be passionate about discovering (and sharing) the places that locals love. Sharp-eyed and creative editing skills are an advantage, as is up-to-date knowledge of SEO best practices. They will have at least two years’ experience in a travel writing role for a consumer magazine or similar.
Our travel content goes big on food, drink, culture (both low and high) and offbeat, under-the-radar things to do. Travellers turn to us because no one knows the city like Time Out; because we give a local’s perspective on everything from the biggest tourist attractions to the tiniest tucked-away bars; because they want to know what a place is really like. We tell them about places in a way that’s funny, engaging, useful and makes them want to pack their bags and get out on the road immediately.
