Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in London is seeking a Band 5 Scrub Staff Nurse for Trauma & Orthopaedics/Major Trauma theatre, providing perioperative care across specialties and covering elective and emergency services.

The role is open to registered nurses or Operating Department Practitioners looking to expand perioperative skills; training and development support is available with 34 operating theatres and a commitment to outstanding patient care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (general) or Operating Department Practitioner
• Post registration experience in theatres for 6 months

Responsibilities

• Setting, monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensuring that nursing procedures are carried out in accordance to Trust's polices
• As skills and competencies develop, taking charge and actively participating in and contributing to the management of the theatre area or on a regular basis.
• Supervising and mentoring junior staff.
• Working to support trauma & orthopaedics/major trauma services on a 24/7 basis and night shifts. Presently, this post do not require on-call commitment.
