Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Social Worker to join the Therapeutic Fostering Team. The role focuses on intensive trauma-informed support for foster carers and looked-after children, managing a defined caseload and working with Clinical Psychologists and other teams across the county.

The successful candidate will hold a social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and demonstrate practice skills aligned with PCF and KSS.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
• Registration with the Social Work England as registered Social Worker.
• Demonstrable capability of practice with PCF and KSS.
• Case recording experience on caseloads or records.
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence and analytical skills in challenging situations.
• Understand trauma-informed practice and apply it with children and families.
• Good working knowledge of IT and SW case recording systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, review and support a child, family or carer with complex needs within legal frameworks.
• Collaborate with professionals to improve safety and community participation.
• Promote autonomy and development for vulnerable individuals.
• Maintain accurate records and participate in planning meetings.
• Act as Practice Educator or Assessor for practice placements and ASYE when appropriate.
• Hold and support a complex caseload with guidance and expert advice.
