Job summary

YouThrive Academy, part of Progressive Independence, is seeking a part-time role to support learners aged 8-17 with literacy, numeracy and practical skills. You will work across academy classrooms, children’s homes and supported accommodation, using trauma-informed methods to help learners engage and meet EHCP targets.

The role requires Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, SEND experience, 1:1 and small group support, safeguarding training, and a willingness to work

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or equivalent.
• Experience in SEND and inclusion roles.
• Experience of providing 1:1 and small group support.
• Experience of working in educational, residential, or alternative provision settings.
• Evidence of recent safeguarding, SEND, or inclusion training.
• Willingness to undertake ongoing CPD (safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, behaviour management).
• Willingness to work flexibly across multiple settings (classrooms, homes, supported accommodation).
• Commitment to term-time working.

Responsibilities

• Adapt activities and resources to help learners develop literacy, numeracy and practical skills.
• Support learners toward EHCP targets and share progress with teachers.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to support behaviour and create safe learning environments.
• Keep learner records up to date and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Participate in relevant training and ongoing CPD.
• Travel locally to reviews, meetings and learner support as needed.
