Job summary

An educational support organisation based in Plymouth is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. The role involves supporting students with complex needs, including those with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Successful candidates will have experience in SEN, an understanding of trauma-informed practices, and possess excellent communication skills. This position offers a nurturing and collaborative work environment with a focus on professional development and meaningful impact in students' lives.

Qualifications

  • Direct experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN), especially Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Experience in a trauma-informed environment or understanding of the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with classroom management and engaging instruction for diverse learning styles.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with complex needs.
  • Implement behaviour support plans rooted in a trauma-informed approach.
  • Contribute to pupil progress reviews and individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain records of student progress and interventions.
  • Foster trusting relationships with students and families.
