Job summary

Foster Care Associates Scotland is recruiting for a Full Time Social Work professional to support foster carers in delivering trauma-informed care and stable home environments for children and young people in Scotland.

You will build trusting relationships with carers, monitor wellbeing and development, ensure understanding of policy and safeguarding, and contribute to multi-agency planning and reporting. This role requires a recognised Social Work qualification and current SSSC registration.

Qualifications

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, analytical, high-quality reports.
  • Recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Current Social Work registration with SSSC.
  • Willingness to travel including occasional overnight stays.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Support foster carers and their families to provide safe, nurturing, trauma-informed care.
  • Build trusting relationships with foster carers and promote reflective practice.
  • Monitor ongoing suitability, wellbeing and development of foster carers.
  • Ensure carers understand fostering roles, trauma-informed approaches and safeguarding procedures.
  • Provide regular supervision and guidance to allocated foster carers.
  • Collaborate within a team to address holistic needs of children and families.
  • Maintain documentation and plans with clear communication and coordination.
  • Attend meetings and contribute written reports for commissioning teams.
