Job summary

Vetro Recruitment seeks a Deputy Manager for a new two-bed children’s home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The role places you in the leadership team from day one to establish a nurturing, trauma-informed environment for young people aged 8–17.

You will help safeguard, plan care, manage risk, and support staff across shifts, with a focus on high standards of residential care and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in a children's residential setting (minimum 2 years).
• Understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations and trauma-informed care principles.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager in safeguarding, care planning, and risk management.
• Lead shift operations, supervise staff, and maintain high standards of residential practice.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and trauma-informed care.
• Support young people through individualised care plans and wellbeing strategies.
• Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and prepare for Ofsted inspections.
• Engage in reflective practice, incident review, and multi-agency collaboration.
• Assist with staff induction, training, and ongoing professional development.
