Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is seeking an Expert Lead Cardiac Physiologist in Transthoracic Echocardiography for maternity cover at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The role is fixed term for 12 months and requires senior clinical leadership in a high‑volume cardiac diagnostic service.

You will lead practitioners, support education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and work across a multi‑disciplinary team to maintain safe, high‑quality imaging and patient care.

Qualifications

• Expert independent clinical practitioner with strategic leadership experience.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
• UK professional registration (HCPC/AHCS) or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and development for all practitioners in the Clinical physiology department within the Cardiac Diagnostic Centre.
• Advise external institutions, including primary care and professional bodies in Cardiology.
• Exercise initiative to solve problems and escalate to Senior Management when needed.
• Collate complex clinical information to determine optimal procedure methodology.
• Set up and operate complex medical equipment for each procedure.
• Obtain analyses, perform calculations, interpret data, and write complex technical reports.
• Communicate interpretations to guide physicians during high‑risk procedures.
• Supervise individuals in the clinical environment.
