Job summary

JINGDONG Logistics is seeking a dedicated Driver Trainer to develop and deliver comprehensive training for JD drivers across the UK. You will ensure legal compliance, safety, and high performance through engaging classroom and practical sessions, with mentoring and ongoing development for new and existing staff.

The role requires strong coaching, excellent communication, and the ability to analyse telematics data to tailor development plans. Occasional travel across the UK is expected.

Qualifications

• Full UK Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Clean UK driving licence.
• Excellent knowledge of DVSA standards, Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive & Tachograph laws.
• Experience as a Driver Trainer, Driver Assessor, or a Class 1 driver moving into training.
• Ability to deliver engaging classroom and practical driver training.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, and feedback skills.
• Analysing telematics data to identify development needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and training systems.
• Willingness to travel across the UK to deliver training.

Responsibilities

• Developing, delivering, and assessing driver training programmes to ensure safe, legal, and efficient operation.
• Support compliance with UK transport legislation and promote a safety culture.
• Deliver driver inductions for new permanent and temporary drivers.
• Conduct practical training and assessments for drivers with various class licences.
• Monitor driver performance using telematics and identify training needs.
• Deliver refresher training and remedial coaching after incidents or performance issues.
• Support drivers during probation with mentoring and development.
• Promote fuel-efficient driving in line with company standards and legislation.
• Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, Tachograph regs, DVSA standards, and Road traffic laws.
• Provide guidance on driver safety to managers and supervisors.
• Develop and update training materials using classroom sessions, simulations, and online learning.
• Maintain training, assessment, and compliance records.
• Produce reports on driver competence, training effectiveness, and trends.
• Liaise with Transport Management to improve driver standards and fleet safety.
• Promote a positive safety culture and reduce fleet incidents.

About The Team

You’ll be joining the JINGDONG Logistics team, which values collaboration, ownership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Developing, delivering, and assessing comprehensive driver training programmes to ensure all JD drivers operate safely, legally, and efficiently.
• Support compliance with UK transport legislation while promoting a strong safety culture and improving driver performance through coaching, mentoring, and performance monitoring. Overtime you will be developing a team to deliver training nationwide to drivers ranging from class B to class C+E
• Deliver driver inductions for new permanent and temporary drivers in a timely manner.
• Conduct practical training and assessments for new and existing drivers (various class licences).
• Monitor driver performance using telematics and identify training or coaching requirements.
• Deliver refresher training and remedial coaching following incidents, complaints, or performance concerns.
• Support drivers throughout their probation period with mentoring and ongoing development.
• Promote safe, legal, fuel-efficient driving practices in line with company standards and legislation.
• Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, Tachograph regulations, DVSA standards, and Road Traffic legislation.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on driver safety to managers and supervisors.
• Develop, update, and deliver training materials using classroom sessions, practical coaching, simulations, and online learning where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate training, assessment, and compliance records.
• Produce reports on driver competence, training effectiveness, and performance trends.
• Liaise with Transport Management to improve driver standards and fleet safety.
• Promote a positive safety culture and contribute to reducing fleet incidents.

Qualifications

• Ability to analyse telematics data and identify driver development needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Competent using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and training management systems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel across the UK to deliver training.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with SAFED or Smith System advanced driver training.
• Experience designing and developing training materials.
• Experience delivering training through a variety of learning methods, including classroom, webinars, simulations, and practical coaching.
