Job summary

Bidfood in the United Kingdom seeks a Transport Team Manager for night shifts (09:00–06:45), 5 days out of 7 with weekend work. You will lead a transport team, drive safety, and deliver high service standards while meeting KPI targets.

You’ll coach staff, manage recruitment, absence and performance, and ensure compliance with driving hours. A commitment to safety and continuous improvement will be essential in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing a logistics/transport team.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Knowledge of transport regulation and industry standards.
• Proven track record of achieving and driving KPI targets.

Responsibilities

• Coaching the team to reach their full potential and align with safety standards.
• Communicating key messages openly and timely to the team.
• Recruitment, absence, performance, conduct, safety and service management.
• Responsible for managing commercial vehicles, cages and pallets.
• Overseeing PPE, vehicle checks, CV servicing, MOTs, VORs and temperature monitoring.
• Allocate work considering capability and legal driving hours to meet targets.
• Carry out investigations with a focus on quality and safety.
• Promote and manage safety in all activities.

About the role

This is a nights position. 09:00 - 06:45 5 out of 7 days. Weekend working is included.

As Transport Team Manager, you’ll work as part of a team responsible for managing the operations, compliance and most importantly… the people! You’ll really ‘get’ the value in recognising good work in the team and making sure they are motivated will be your priority! You’ll lead the team putting safety at the frontier and working towards shared goals of delivering the best service!

Some of the key parts of the role:

• Coaching the team to reach their full potential
• Communicating openly and consistently, delivering key messages to the team at the right time
• Managing recruitment, absence, performance conduct safety and service.
• Responsible for managing commercial vehicles, cages and pallets
• PPE, vehicle checks CV servicing MOT’s, VOR’s, temperature checks, near misses to name a few!
• Allocating work considering individual/team capability and legal driving hours to achieve targets
• Carrying out good quality investigations
• And no matter what you’re doing, you’ll always be promoting and managing all safety
