Job description

We are recruiting to join our Transport Team at our Booker Retail Partnersite. As a Transport Team Manager, you will support the site management team in the efficient, safe, legal, and cost-effective management of the Transport operations.

The objective of the role is to ensure that our large, fast-moving Transport operation runs smoothly and efficiently, by achieving optimum service levels across all contracts whilst working to specific KPIs.

About the role

Reporting into the Transport Operations manager, you will work to achieve operational KPIs and service agreements to tight deadlines and drive improvements by engaging the team in promoting a positive culture.

You will manage vehicle breakdowns, ensuring minimal impact to the retailer. You will also analyze Tacho-graph infringement reports, discuss infringements with drivers, and liaise with the Warehouse Operations to ensure timely loading and departure of loads.

Managing legal compliance with all transport legislation, particularly Driver’s hours, and maintaining the Fleet for servicing, MOTs, and Defect Management are key responsibilities.

• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as Health & Safety, Employment Law, Discrimination
• Understanding of Transport Legislation and non-compliance impacts
• Knowledge of multi-temperature warehouse/transport procedures and compliance
• Ability to plan labor and resources effectively to meet KPIs and Service Levels
• Effective communication skills
• PC literacy in Excel and Word, WMS experience
• CPC qualification

Experience within the FMCG distribution industry and strong knowledge of transport legislation are essential.
