Culina Group in Spalding is hiring a Transport Team Leader on a full-time permanent basis. You will plan daily resources, instruct drivers, and ensure optimal utilisation across sites.

The role operates 4 on 4 off nights (7pm–7am) with a salary of £35,000–£39,000 per year, depending on experience. Key duties include managing absence policies, coaching team members, scheduling patterns, and liaising with customers to meet delivery requirements.

Qualifications

• 1 year minimum FMCG distribution experience is required.
• Experience communicating with drivers is essential.
• Demonstrable cost control methods within a traffic office setting.
• Knowledge of temperature-controlled transport is advantageous.
• Understanding warehouse operations helps integrate functions effectively.
• Strong grasp of general logistics and deadline-driven work.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily resources (Company and 3rd-party) for optimal utilisation.
• Provide clear, precise instructions to vehicles and drivers.
• Coordinate with sites to ensure all vehicles are fully utilised.
• Safeguard safety and compliance with driver hours regulations.
• Work with retail teams to optimise fleet and driver utilisation.
• Support the Transport Operation Manager in meetings or visits.

Job description

Our Spalding site have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Team Leader to join our friendly team on a full-time permanent basis.

As the Transport Team Leader you will be responsible for the daily planning of Company and third-party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers are given clear precise instruction, and are fully utilised.

Shift:4 on 4 off nights, 7pm-7am.

Salary:£35,000- £39,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Duties of a Transport Team Leader:

• Oversee the effective application of the Company absence policy and procedures including monitoring of absence levels and conducting return to work discussions.
• Identify the training and development needs for team members and coach /organise/oversee solutions using own knowledge and company training tools.
• Agree working patterns with regard to resource requirements and effective utilisation of the needs of all sites considered and confirm at least two weeks in advance.
• Plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all Company sites are fully considered when doing so.
• Ensure that people under your control work within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations when driving & Company Health & Safety Policy & Procedures.
• Liaise with retail department teams to optimise fleet/driver utilisation and resolve problems affecting delivery on time.
• Assist in the control of equipment ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
• Liaise with customers regarding present or future developments.
• Support and if necessary, provide cover for the Transport Operation Manager in meetings or customer visits.
• To ensure all vehicle and trailer services are completed on time

Qualifications:
