Job summary

Sysco Belfast is seeking a Transport Team Lead to oversee daily depot activities, coordinate dispatch routes, and support drivers in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires supervisory experience in high-volume distribution, a full driving licence, and strong IT skills. You will lead by example, ensure safety and compliance, and coordinate with sales, transport, and operations to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a supervisory role within a high-volume, technology-driven, time-sensitive distribution operation.
  • Experience in the food distribution industry is advantageous.
  • Must possess a full Driving Licence.
  • Proficient in IT systems including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Good understanding of Transport regulations (Tachograph, Work Time Directive).
  • Ability to influence a team to deliver high standards of service and to plan and organize work efficiently.
  • Fluent English – reading and writing.
  • Strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all depot activities to ensure smooth operation.

  • Coach and motivate delivery team members.
  • Analyse driver performance by accompanying routes.
  • Ensure adherence to delivery procedures and policies.

Now, we’re looking for a Transport Team Lead within our Belfast Depot. This is a fantastic opportunity for any leader looking for a rewarding career experience within an industry renowned, global organisation.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Co-ordination of all depot activities ensuring the smooth running of depot
  • Supporting efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers on a daily basis
  • Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team
  • Analysing the performance of drivers by accompanying them on their routes
  • Ensuring delivery procedures and policies are adhered to at all times
  • Effectively liaising with sales, transport, and operation departments to resolve all issues in a timely manner
  • Ensuring equipment breakdown and repairs are minimised and reported
  • Supporting shift manager in ensuring that company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand
  • Involved in identifying, coordinating training as appropriate to meet driver needs
  • Ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standards
  • Supporting Security and Health & Safety Procedures relevant to site
  • Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent and unbiased manner
  • Supporting absence management, investigation and disciplinaries
  • Office Admin responsibilities
Requirements:
  • Experience in a relevant supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation
  • Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous
  • Must possess a full DriversLicence
  • Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Good understanding of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)
  • Ability to influence a team to deliver the highest standards of service Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data
  • Fluent English – reading and writing
  • Strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area
  • Flexible approach to working hours
