Job summary

Sysco Belfast is expanding and is seeking a Transport Planner to coordinate multi‑drop delivery routes nationwide each day, ensuring efficiency and cost control.

This role can be based in Dublin or Belfast. You will use Excel and other IT tools, apply tachograph rules, plan driver schedules, monitor KPIs, and work with the Transport Manager to optimise routing. Training will be provided on transport planning systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of transport planning and operational processes.
• Experience in the logistics industry.
• Proficient with Excel and ability to analyse data.
• Knowledge of tachograph rules (EU & UK) for goods vehicles.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexible with working hours.

Responsibilities

• Plan multi drop delivery routes to be taken by each driver for deliveries to customers.
• Utilise the company fleet efficiently and reduce delivery costs.
• Determine the most efficient use of truck space.
• Liaise with Transport Manager and Depot Managers for coordinating back haulage.
• Understand driving hours and record tachographs accurately.
• Monitor daily KPIs and report on weekly/monthly delivery costs.
• Review and improve routing and delivery efficiency.
• Any other ad hoc transport related tasks.

Summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Transport Manager this role requires the individual to be responsible for developing and co-ordinating multi drop deliveries to our customers nationwide on a daily basis in the most efficient manner to meet delivery demands.

This role can be based in either our Dublin or Belfast location.

This role will suit an ambitious, self-motivated person to enhance the customers experience of partnering with Sysco. We are looking for someone who has a demonstrable understanding of our transport planning and operational process. Relevant training will be provided on all related aspects of the transport planning systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To plan multi drop delivery routes to be taken by each driver in the delivery of goods and products to our customers
• Utilise the company fleet effectively and efficiently and to reduce the cost of delivery related expenses
• Determine the most appropriate utilisation of truck space
• Liaising with the Transport Manager and Depot Managers in co-ordinating back haulage
• Understanding legal driving hours and adhering to the 'rules of the road', as well as conducting analysis of driver tachographs and accurately recording information.
• Responsible for monitoring daily KPI's and report on weekly / monthly costings of the delivery of goods
• Review and enhance the efficiency of the routing and delivery activity
• Any other ad hoc transport related tasks
• Shift patterns - Mid shift

Requirements

• This position requires a knowledge and good understanding of transport planning and operational process
• Experience working in the Logistics industry
• Be proficient with Excel and other IT packages with the ability to analyse and disseminate numerical data
• Knowledge and good understanding the tachograph rules (EU & UK) for goods vehicles
• Have strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to work independently
• The ability to work to tight deadlines and in a fast paced, high pressure environment
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be adaptable to change
• Flexibility regarding working hours, start and finish times which will depend on the business
• Excellent time keeping and attendance
