Job summary

Morgan Ryder Associates is recruiting an experienced Transport Supervisor to lead a small team of drivers and own the transport, fleet compliance and delivery function at our Liverpool area client. The role is hands-on and focuses on improving efficiency, service delivery and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing setting.

• Experience in transport or logistics operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of five drivers.
• Plan and coordinate daily delivery routes.
• Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Monitor tachograph data and manage driver infringements.
• Oversee vehicle inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Coordinate MOTs, repairs and statutory vehicle inspections.
• Monitor vehicle performance and telematics.
• Maintain accurate fleet compliance records and documentation.
• Manage vehicle defect reporting and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
• Work closely with production and customer service teams to coordinate deliveries.
• Provide operational support within the warehouse when required.
• Assist with vehicle loading and unloading where necessary.
• Maintain the company's transport compliance systems and procedures.

Job description

An established and growing manufacturing business based in Liverpool is looking to appoint an experienced Transport Supervisor to take responsibility for its transport operations, fleet compliance and delivery function.

This is a hands-on role, offering the opportunity to lead a small team of drivers, oversee a mixed vehicle fleet and play a key part in improving operational efficiency, service delivery and compliance standards.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and confident managing people, with a good understanding of transport legislation and day-to-day logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities as Transport Supervisor

• Managing and supporting a team of five drivers.
• Planning and coordinating daily delivery routes.
• Ensuring compliance with Drivers' Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Monitoring tachograph data and managing driver infringements.
• Overseeing vehicle inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance.

The operation currently comprises:

• 1 HGV.
• 4 tachograph-equipped vehicles.
• 3 company vans.
• Forklift trucks.

Essential Experience & Requirements

• Previous experience within transport or logistics operations.
• Experience managing and supervising a team.
• Knowledge of tachograph systems and Drivers' Hours Regulations.
• Manufacturing experience
• A full, current driving licence.
• A practical, hands-on approach to managing daily operations.
