Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Transport Operations Manager to oversee night shifts in the UK, ensuring deliveries meet service levels and KPIs. You will lead the night transport team for the Beko contract, liaise with drivers and customers, and coordinate resources to maintain safe, compliant operations.

The role requires experience in transport, driver hours rules, and maintenance planning, with strong communication and cost-control skills.

Qualifications

• Transport operations experience in a logistics or transport environment.
• Knowledge of drivers' hours and Working Time Directive rules.
• Experience with vehicle maintenance planning and legal requirements.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• IOSH and International Transport Manager CPC qualifications are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily transport operations, track deliveries, and liaise with drivers and customers to meet KPIs.
• Review driver, vehicle, and trailer resources to ensure safe and efficient coverage.
• Manage transport compliance, including driver debriefs, tachographs, vehicle defects, and hours rules.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance with service providers to minimise downtime.
• Drive safety and performance through driver management and accident investigations.
• Lead the night transport team for the Beko contract and report to Transport Manager.
• Engage with drivers and suppliers to meet customer KPIs and legal requirements.

• Monitor daily transport operations, track deliveries, liaise with drivers and customers, and ensure service levels and KPIs are achieved
• Review driver, vehicle, and trailer resources to ensure work is covered safely and efficiently
• Manage transport compliance, including driver debriefs, tachograph infringements, vehicle defects, and driver hours legislation
• Coordinate vehicle and trailer maintenance with service providers to minimise downtime and manage breakdowns and incidents
• Drive safety and performance through driver management, accident investigations, and proactive Health & Safety activities
• Lead the night transport team for the Beko contract
• Report to the Transport Manager
• Engage with drivers and suppliers and ensure customer KPIs and legal operating requirements are met

Requirements

• Transport experience
• Experience with vehicle maintenance planning and legal requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience developing relationships with customers and colleagues
• IOSH and International Transport Manager CPC qualifications would be beneficial
• Competent Microsoft Office user, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience of cost control and working within budget
• Experience reporting and managing cost variances
• Knowledge of drivers’ hours and Working Time Directive rules
• Ability to work Monday to Friday, 22:00–07:00, with flexibility required
• Ability to manage drivers within compliance and ensure vehicles operate within legal parameters
