Job summary

Tactran invites an experienced Transport Strategy Officer to help develop, implement and monitor the Regional Transport Strategy for Angus, Dundee City, Perth & Kinross, and Stirling.

Reporting to the Strategy Manager, you will advance Strategic Connectivity, Bus, Rail, Mobility Hubs, Freight and Low Carbon Vehicle elements, liaising with partners and supporting procurement and delivery.

The office is based in Perth with hybrid working options.

Qualifications

• Degree in transport or related field.
• Familiar with transport policy issues within RTP or local authorities.
• Knowledge of transportation appraisal and modelling techniques.

TRANSPORT STRATEGY OFFICER

Salary: £43,908 - £50,332

Lying at the heart of Scotland’s transport network, and covering the Angus, Dundee City, Perth & Kinross and Stirling Council areas, Tactran is the statutory Regional Transport Partnership with a duty to create a Regional Transport Strategy and oversee its delivery.The Partnership is a statutory agency supporting Community Planning and Development Planning and has a key role in supporting the development and implementation of City Deals.

Tactran adopted a new Regional Transport Strategy in 2024, setting the direction for transport policy and delivery in the region until 2034.The focus for Tactran and our partners will be to ensure the region meets the key challenges of the climate emergency while contributing to a thriving economy, improving the health and well-being of our citizens and ensuring this is done in a just way to deliver inclusive and sustainable growth.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated professional to play a key role in developing and delivering our Regional Transport Strategy and contributing to our role in supporting Community Planning, Development Planning and regional economic programmes including relevant City Deals.

Strategy Officer (£43,908 - £50,332)

Reporting to the Strategy Manager you will have responsibility for supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of the Regional Transport Strategy and related delivery programmes, with particular emphasis on advancing Strategic Connectivity, Bus, Rail, Mobility Hubs, Freight and Low Carbon Vehicle elements of the Strategy.This will involve supporting and contributing to key stakeholder and partner liaison and assisting in the appraisal, procurement and delivery of proposals and projects.Ideally educated to degree level in transport, or other relevant discipline. You will also be familiar with transport and wider policy issues within an RTP or local authority environment, have knowledge and/or experience of transportation appraisal and modelling techniques, and have knowledge of transport and other relevant legislation and related operational practices and procedures.

The Tactran office is based in Perth, but officers are also able to work on a hybrid basis.
