Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a transport planning professional to join the Connectivity Strategy team. The role focuses on shaping the future transport network for Staffordshire, analysing data and contributing to schemes that improve travel choice for residents.

You will learn and develop through training and gain opportunities to progress within the council. You will work from home and in the office, collaborating with colleagues as part of a growing team delivering Local Transport

Qualifications

  • A levels or BTEC Level 3 qualifications in a relevant discipline or experience in a transport planning environment.
  • Demonstrable IT experience and ability to use software packages effectively (e.g., Microsoft).
  • Ability to assimilate, disseminate, communicate and present complex information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and delivery of the Local Transport Plan.
  • Analyze transport data and prepare reports with trend analysis and data limitations.
  • Apply GIS analysis techniques and other accessibility planning software.
  • Produce plans, graphics and text for reports.
  • Respond to general transport planning correspondence in line with council policy.
  • Liaise with internal council officers and external organisations.

Job description

Staffordshire County Council, We are looking for a new person to join the Connectivity Strategy team to help us shape the future transport network in Staffordshire. Local transport has a huge impact on people's lives and is at the heart of the inclusive communities, public transport, active travel and economic growth agendas.

You will be part of a growing team that is involved in producing new transport strategies, collecting and analysing data, and helping to deliver transport schemes on the ground that provide travel choices for the residents of Staffordshire.

Main Responsibilities

If you are keen on working with data and are enthusiastic about improving travel choices for everyone, including walking, cycling and public transport, transport planning may be the career for you.

You will be:

  • Assisting in the development and delivery of the Local Transport Plan.
  • Analysing transport data and the preparation of reports including trend analysis and data limitations.
  • Applying GIS analysis techniques and other accessibility planning software
  • Producing plans, graphics and text to be included in reports.
  • Responding to general transport planning related correspondence, in line with the Council’s policy position on transport.
  • Liaison with other internal Council officers and external organisations.
The Ideal Candidate
  • A levels or BTEC Level 3 qualifications in a relevant discipline or experience in a transport planning environment.
  • A general knowledge of the role of local authorities in delivering transport projects.
  • Demonstrable IT experience and utilizing software packages effectively (i.e Microsoft).
  • Ability to assimilate, disseminate, communicate and present complex information.
  • Effective organisational skills and able to meet deadlines.
